Shoe-without-a-pairI miss you like a shoe that has lost its pair: a single, smelly left shoe kicked to the corner. My laces are in knots, I've got holes everywhere. On my seam there's a rip, on my heart there's a tear.
It's hard to be without your right shoe. Everything seems wrong somehow. It's worse than falling down stairs or getting the flu or trying to cross the sandy desert in a canoe.
I can't function like I should anymore, I can only hop around on one foot. I take one step, then fall flat on the floor, jaw shattering on tile, forehead bashing on door.
